I've been feeling kinda like garbage since Thursday so I haven't done much plus first week of the new job didn't allow a lot of spare time during the week. BUT with the upcoming week off, I intend to do some maintenance tasks. I'll display this @JoJosReef style I guess?

How does this work/what is the desired impact? If there is a thread/link for this design I can do my own reading, just curious on different methods for nutrient control :)

It's just a DIY 3D printed Turf Algae Scrubber. It's similar to the idea behind a Refugium except it's encouraging turf or hair algae to grow - but in a controlled environment. The green part is the top - a grow light slips into there. Water gets pumped up through the small square tubing on the bottom (opening in the first picture) then it trickles down the screen in the middle. Algae grows on the screen, the screen slides out for algae removal, goes back in and starts all over again!

Since I'm using my sump for Anemones and Clownfish, I can't have a typical refugium so I decided to try a Turf Scrubber but the one I got is about 1/4" too wide to fit where I need it. I decided to put my limited creativity to work and design and print this one. There are multiple modifications necessary for a fully functional model but it's a fairly straightforward forward, functional tool that companies charge multiple hundred of dollars for that we can DIY for $20 or so.

Grow light, PVC with holes or a slit, a small water pump and somewhere to install it as a trickle filter and you're golden. I made mine enclosed to help reduce light splash into the Nem Fuge.
 
I was trying to open TinkerCAD and give you an idea of the design but they changed the website so it doesn't work on my phone anymore... 🙄
 
The front is solid, there are slides that hold the screen and front in place.

It slides into the main body and the mesh sits directly below the slit.
