Okay, my neurotic inability to be satisfied is your gain!
Just got this this week. I tested the skimmer in about 10 gallons saltwater taken from a water change, and it performs okay. I think, though, I'm going to go with a slightly larger skimmer, perhaps a Bubble King as I've had before.
Completely cleaned up in a vinegar/water bath with pump running (about 2 parts water to 1 part vinegar), including opening the pump to make sure none of the crud from the test water was caught in there. Disassembled completely and repackaged in original carton, nice and tidy.
