Evaporation on a 15g AIO?

FWIW, I have a 20gal IM AIO with a lid and a 5g ATO. I can easily go 2 to 2-1/2 weeks between refills. Like many have mentioned, it will depend a lot on heat from lighting, fans for cooling, inside humidity etc. IMO, I think 2.5g will last you around a week.

I personally went larger because I had the space and often take 7-12 day trips away from the house. I also have a sensor that will turn the ATO off and send me an alert if the reservoir runs low so I won't burn up my pump by running it dry.

I got osmalator 3 nano I was worried a Amazon deal would flood my house one day.

Nah, they're as solid as the next. The one I have will only top up 3 times? (From memory) in the space of a couple of minutes before auto disabling to prevent top off due to unforeseen issues.

Never had any issues with it. Every now and then I take the sensor out and drop it in a bath of white vinegar for half hr and then give it a good clean and back in tank.

The Red Sea containers (hard white plastic) are very narrow, if you need something to slide behind a tank or close to a wall. But the 5 and 10 gallon size are expensive.

How much was that container? I've been looking for a large dosing container and that would be perfect.
FWIW I have and IM20 with 5 gallon ATO container. I never fill it past 3 gallons and have never used more than 2 gallons in 7 days. I refill all ATO containers every Sunday

Being new to saltwater I didn’t want to chance it. It took me 30 years to finally get a tank.

Completely understandable. What I will say, is when disaster strikes (it will) - it will be when you're not around and the last thing you least expect. That's a given unfortunately. Mostly at our hands but - occasionally out of our control. So yes, limiting those risks is a very sensible thing to do.

Good luck with the journey and I hope it brings you a lot of happiness! (Just prepare for those times when its not so fun - yet equally as important).

Evaporation rates can vary considerably, but 2.5L is awfully small. I probably go through almost half a gallon a day on my 25g with 3 ft² of open water. I use a 5g reservoir which is enough to safely get me through a one week vacation.

Same here. Have a fresh 5 gallon RODI pale ready every week. Don't forget to clean it out occasionally. JBJ mini ATO does just great.

So i decided that im going to go with the 3 gallon rv jug. Then if we go away i can always toss a bucket next to the tank. I appreciate everyone’s input I’m sure I’ll be asking more along the way.
