Ever get bored watching things grow?

Started up my tank in August 2020. It was a scramble, lots of issues coming and going with livestock, algae, quarantine, etc. Now the system is humming, equipment dialed in, schedule and habits pretty much established.

I think I’ve got the livestock I want, and not much more I want to add coral wise. Maybe a couple of pieces here and there but nothing urgent. These days watching the tank and feeding is awesome and I enjoy relaxing to it, but not the same hustle and bustle as the beginning. You guys ever get bored waiting for the grow out?

For me, the fun is in watching things grow. Be it fish, crustaceans, snails or corals. Since I do keep alot of sps, there’s new growth every day...and for some like montis and acros, everyday.

I'm just getting into the stocking and husbandry now. Once it's all in place I'm soon find out lol. Likely won't be really done until spring or summer. I like to take it slow, helps reduce disaster and prolongs the build!

I have some LPS that are defiantly slow growers, but get yourself some fast growing coral such as Duncan’s, Birdsnest, or GSP to pull your attention away from the slow growers.

I got mostly LPS, and some SPS corals. They aren’t really taking off per se. I mean my SPS are growing, but it’s not much change week to week.

You ever take weekly pictures of your SPS? Some of my higher end Millies and Tenius grow slowly, and I really didn’t notice the growth until I looked back on my photos.

You ever take weekly pictures of your SPS? Some of my higher end Millies and Tenius grow slowly, and I really didn’t notice the growth until I looked back on my photos.

I don’t, but I have seen growth in montis from month apart photos, man they are sneaky.

No not really.
It does take awhile to get your tank looking like a reef but thats half the fun, imo.
Around 1 year in I had to remove and frag out 3 colonys as they were weeds.
Today I trimmed/ fragged several corals that were encroaching on others. Now I can watch them grow in my frag tank.

My Zoa finally grew a new arm!! Was like YASSSSS

My rastas sprout a new head once every two months. It’s depressingly slow for me. My Kenya tree is still the nub I had when I got it.

I don't get tired of it, but I have been slowly adding corals every few months to take up real estate from bare rock. So it's a balance between adding new corals, rejuvenating struggling corals and watching the healthy corals.
