The thing about these grow-out contests and what we have learned over the many years of doing them, is that what makes them as fun and engaging as possible are the corals we choose. It’s not about high-end super coral. And choosing the wrong piece is like the difference between watching paint dry and riding a roller coaster. Really fancy SPS are great, don’t get me wrong, but just not what you want to do a grow-out with. It’s super anticlimactic and frankly just boring.
I’ll just come right out and say it, this contest right here, the old tried-and-true Poletti Yellow Tip; this is 100% how I’ve ever wished every contest would go.
So many made it to the finish line and the sheer explosive growth in this thing was absolutely insane to watch unfold. The Poletti was, without a doubt, a home run for a grow out contest. I mean, these entries speak for themselves.
I’ve always had pretty good growth with mine even, but these guys have taken it to a whole new level. Utterly blown away!

This was not easy, let me tell you. These finalists are super close in so many ways. I’d like to say we just did the very best we could in determining the winner here. It was not an easy one, but we definitely have a winner.
So, the crew and I would very much like to congratulate @Dust Bowl Corals formerly known as 64Nova.
You did it! Took the Poletti yellow to a place I didn’t even know existed. Well, maybe I did. In the right hands, at least, and those hands happen to be yours my friend. Outstanding specimen in both color and growth. Two words, just awesome!
When I said it was a tough one, now you'll see why. In a very, very close second is our good friend, and grow-out veteran, @Red_Beard Wow, man, your colony looks so good. I anxiously looked forward to your entries each month. Your colony is beautiful.
And my man @Ghostbuster you went a little outside the box with your mounting and it paid off. There was a while there around mid-contest where I was sure you’d win this thing. Just fell a little short in the home stretch. But make no mistake this colony is equally as impressive.
Want to say thanks again to everyone who participated, you guys made this one the best grow out yet!

I mean it when I say these contests would not be possible in any way with out these dudes. These are more their contests than mine. So from me and id like to speak for the rest of the contestants, sincerely thank you for putting these on and keeping them fun!
And with that our 2025 winter grow outs are concluded! Excellent job everyone We will officially kick off the spring 2026 trifecta soon here! look for sing ups as soon as this week:)
