Ever use a salinity probe with automated top-off controller?

I'd be worried that your salinity probe could get messed up or came out of the water and over filled your little tank. It wouldn't take much. Too many things could fail IMO.

You'd be better off monitoring it manually for a few weeks and seeing what your tank is evaporating and then just use a BRS 50ml doser to add the difference on a timer.

Maybe just use the salinity probe as a monitor to notify you if your salinity changes drastically due to salt creep and what not.

How long have you had your salinity probe? I gave up on mine I would calibrate it and with in a couple of days it would be off again. I never trusted it. I origially bought it to control my auto top off but it scared me too much

I would not invest in salinity probe, salinity will not go up and down that much even if the water evap...

Rav197699_ Hi thanks for the advice however I purchased mineabout two months ago. I'm running a small soft coral reef nano and wanted to automate as much as I could. Its just another perimeter and will make it a little easier for me to keep current specs on the ecosystem in my aquarium you know?
Ihope some company somewhere eventually gets a reliable probe set for magnesium, alkalinity and calcium some day though. Anyways if I can not rely on test kits it makes reefkeeping easier and more fun imo. Cheers.
