Eeeewie gross lol eating your own dead skinUnderstood, just find it a little odd that a fire shrimp, a small blue leg hermit, and a large elegant hermit crab all molted the same day. It was cool to watch and most are eating their own molt!
This makes sense! I did a water change and fed purple and green seaweed. I was just weirded out because even the emerald crab did too. 4 different crustaceans molting. When I saw the exoskeletons I freaked and did another parameter test and everything was fine.Iodine stimulates their molt. If you didn’t dose any did you do a water change or start feeding seaweed? My cleaner shrimp and crabs all molt after a big water change or a large nori feeding like clockwork.
That is interesting! I will have to research more on the mating and molting relationship. Thanks for the informationYes it is possible - they can probably regulate their molt with pheromones in the water. Many crustaceans can only mate some days after the molt has start.
Sincerely Lasse
No, I did a water change after but it’s my usual day for that.Did you do a water change or dose anything?
Maybe its the seasons changing, either way good thing right lolTemp is 78.2-78.4 depending on time of day. Salinity is 1.025 PH 8.1 calcium 420 everything stable. I feed Hikari crab sticks twice a week, and alternate between the following: brine and mysis, pellets, flakes, and reef frenzy herbivore for daily feeding
