Evil hermit Crab story

So awhile back I got home and one of my hermits crabs were missing, I found his shell though. The shell was worn by a different hermit crab. I thought well he must have been molting and his shell probably got stolen. He still hasn't turned up.

A couple days ago the hermit crab that "stole" the shell apparently needed a new one, a bigger one. Now I have a couple shells littered around the sand bed big ones, small ones every kind. apparently non of these suited this hermits size.

I woke up looked in my tank and these two hermit are ripping this snail apart!!! I assumed the snail just passed away and the hermits were just doing their job. I took the snail out and tossed him.

Later that day after I got back from school I found another snail being ripped by the same hermits. I assumed the same as before. I took the snail out put it aside so I could test my water, see if anything was causing these snail deaths. Looked at the dead snail before testing my water and found that the hermit crab was wearing the snail shell. This hermit crab is ruthless.

Overall this hermit crab killed a hermit for and two snails for a shell...while I have my sand bed littered with shells.

I have some Mexican orange legs and they practice open warfare on my other crabs. Saw two pulling a blue leg out piece by piece. They didn't need shell because, like you, I keep extra shells in the tank. I have several scarlets with legs and claws missing. Just meaner than ----!
