Minus the sag in the pipe I'm using for support it looks pretty good I think! Should be plenty of light hopefully. Not quite finished yet. Currently im using a length of pvc but anyone any ideas on a better alternative?

Solid acrylic dowel or acrylic tubing in general… another option might be cap the ends of your pvc and fill it with expansion foam or something similar to stiffen it up.
That's not a bad idea. Il try with the foam while it's in place. Spent ages setting the lights up don't really want to move them now lol

Anything but PVC! Since you don't want to disassemble, how about a length of re-bar....the fattest that will fit. That is, if 1 inch pipe, 3/4 re-bar.

Only issue with that is the pipe will hold that bent shape if you fill it up the way it sits.

I could go rebar it's 40mm pvc at the moment I could probably slide 32mm rebar in there.

Wow! Deceiving picture....I don't believe you'll need to go that thick....32 mm by whatever is going to be a heavy piece of rebar. Simply judge the thickness you'll need to minimize sag.

And now knowing that you have a fat pipe....price out what a smaller diameter piece of black pipe would cost.. I'm not familiar with metric black pipe...that you could slide into that 40mm pvc. Here in the States, 3/4 inch black pipe (19mm) has an OD of 1.05 inches (26.7mm)....that would hold a ton of weight.
