Maybe you're right. I'm sometimes guilty. However I acknowledge this and make an effort. I've got no problem being called out.

This sound like what you do from reading your posts maybe this is why you butt heads especially with people who are very respected in this hobby.

This thread is past saving, is not in jest anymore; and should be closed. IMO R2R Team Members and R2R Guides should not be involved in squabbles. One thing I'd like to point out, again: In general, people who keep a reef tank are intelligent and successful. All people on here should be treated with respect whether they are new to the hobby or are seasoned veterans. Both sides always lose in a fight.

What I have found over the years is that people with years of experience don't know it all and I'm a great example. What's great about this hobby is that each and every ecosystem (contained reef) is slightly different. That's why what works for you may not work for me. When I first started in this hobby the Internet was not available which at that time was a lot of trial and error. In this day in age 15 year old kids are more technical in this hobby than I am due to the vast knowledge that can be found on the web and their technical abilities to find it. I have come across high school kids that have far more knowledge than those that have owed a fish store for 10 years. In all, knowledge does not always come from experience but instead comes from knowledge.

I don't think anyone is claiming to know it all... I think it is impossible to know it all but experience does count for something.. this hobby is constantly changing. I just think this thread should have never been started and should be deleted.
My problem is when people claim stuff that most have discovered should not be done is newbies come and read this and think stuff is ok that is not ok. People can post what ever they want on a forum with out any proof. People claim all these wild thing but never show any proof. How many act like they know everything but never show pictures of their tanks. There are allot of authors out there who have changed their views on stuff based on new discoveries or what not. I bet some wish some of that stuff was never published.

edit:
I know this one guy on another forum who said look how assume my tank looks with no water changes in like 3 years and showed pictures. Found another thread by him that was a tank build thread for the same tank which was not even 6 months old on another forum.. hmmm

There is allot of people that have shown success and are well known. Who do you believe? The person who is experienced and shown his success?

Problem with the internet is most people think they can hide behind a user name. They think they can say what they want or treat people anyway they want or what ever because no one knows who they are and there are no consequences. They would never do this stuff in real life or someone would kick their butt.. I read allot of forums and the reef hobby forums are tame by comparison to allot of others.

You're certainly welcome to your opinion. You'll be glad to know that I'm done here. Everybody take care!!

I would have to agree with the statement that it should never have been started. I already stated my opinion of the higher standards that the leaders of this forum should display. I will also state that this is not the first time Liquid360 has started a new thread to continue an argument. Both participants in a fight lose one way or another.

It might be the time to take ten deep breaths. I would be sorry to see you leave, as I'm sure, many others would be, too. There are tens of thousands of people on this forum. Just carefully pick which ones you want to have conversations with.

I am another person that Liquid360 butt head with. Like Trex, I think Liquid360 also need to get the fact of what I said straight. I never said anything about not having more than 2 clown fish in a tank. In fact, more than50% of my tanks (even not counting tanks I used to raise clown fish or brood stock tanks) have more than two clown fish in it.
What I said was mature female clown fish (not any clown fish) will not tolerate another mature female clown fish (again not any clown fish but a mature female clown fish) in its territory (noted not tank)

Liquid360, please get the fact straight.

I had started posting here because I thought it would be a fun way to kill time... something, due to circumstances beyond my control, I've got LOTS of. However it's just not fun anymore. I take full responsibility for that. I don't blame anybody. I met some awesome people here! I had fun and learned a great deal. It's been a good experience. I've made it such that when I log off I couldn't get back on if I wanted to so this is a real goodbye.

I agree with what you are saying. Some of the stuff that people posts are insane and as you stated never show their tanks. I get pictures from people that say the coral I sent them died two days later. I then ask for pictures and am amazed that algae can live in some of these tanks let alone coral. People that don't have the knowledge certainly should not be offerings extensive advise.

Liquid360 stated in that thread that he had 3 females Ocellaris and 1 male all having a funtime with the anemone with no problem. He showed a video of two Ocellaris, that is in a anemone, claim that these are two of the females. Im my experienced eyes, these were just juveniles, not mature clown fish.
He was advicing a person who asked if he should add another mature pair of clown fish into his tank which he already have a mature pair. My advice was if the fish were mature as indicated (I have no way of knowing if the novice reefer able to tell if he has mature clownfish or not) They should not be added together.

IMO, Liquid360's advice in that thread was reckless to say the least.

Yea I can certainly understand that.. I don't know how some places even can give warranties they do.

And did I say it was my opinion and that others have different experiences?

I think Mike J is dosing bourbon? 2 shots for me 10ml for the reef. Being that he is from Nicholasville KY...

Respect is where it's at on forums. Respect for differences. Correcting inaccurate information graciously. Ignoring people who want to fight. I think we are all capable of that.

This was my exact advice

If you have 2 females, it unlikely work. If you have no female, then 4 or 5 ocellaris is OK

I have been in the hobby a long time. The one thing that drives me insane and the reason I am less helpful now than I used to be is people who continue to ask the same question until they get the answer they want.
There are basic rules of thumb in this hobby and you will always have a few that have success in breaking them, for the most part though those who stick to them will have less loss. Innovation is great and is what drives our hobby but don't get all upset when people suggest you will fail, prove them wrong.
