So today I wake up to my 818 carc's sicci pump cavitaing with no effluent flow and the chamber filled with bubbles.
Swapped it out with a new pump and its back up and running.
Topped it off with several cups of bones.
The pump was the one that came with the 818. I don't know the hours on it but have 2, now, 1 new backup pump for it.

14K edge bars have arrived.
I just attached one and am working on #2.
I thinks this is going to look good.

Yesterday I took the no3 reactor offline. No3 was 10.
I also setup kalk to drip at 3mlm when the lights are off so 14hrs.
Ph was hovering around 7.6 before and this morning was 7.8.
A ph of 8.1 was my max.
I will run like this and see if ph stays at 7.8 at night.

I never paid much attention to ph but I want to see if brining it up does anything for the coral.

With the no3 reactor off line that's one less thing to drive ph down.
I never saw a difference running no3 at 3 vs 10 so we will see how far it will climb with the reactor offline and it's effect.

Alk is 7.5.

It used about 2.5 liters. I only filled to the 4 liter mark.

Carx and kalk is the plan with the kalk only on at night for 14hrs.

A Kamoer feeds the sump.

So it's been 1 week since I introduced Kalk to my system.
Dosing around 1700ml a night. Kamoer at 2mlm for 14hrs.
Slight reduction to the carx and its holding 7.7-8.1 dkh.

I am now holding ph 7.9-8.1. The bottom number has come up from a low of 7.6. I saw a few 7.5's over the last year also.

Observation:
New growth on corals is well unexpected. I was never one to react to ph and just let the systems run over the years with what I would rate as good growth.

I have, like many, a few corals that are stubborn when it come to growth. Visual growth over the period of a week was quite surprising, especially because im home everyday.

The system evaporates around 10 liters a day and uses approximately 2.5 dkh daily.

Thoughts?

1st I would try to actively vent the room/ house/ skimmer. High c02 effects you too, not just the tank. Assuming c02 is reasonable, I would use the kalk to get to 8.1-8.3. You will see the difference still. I would want to use as little kalk as possible- the mitigate evaporation differences in seasons.
Pay attention to the length of the new growth tips...

I plan to just run kalk at night currently 14hrs.
It's not tied to my ato so simple to adjust.
Taking no3 reactor offline helped.
Carx will handle the bulk.
I am just looking to bring up night ph.
If it holds at 7.9 I will be happy.
Yea many new growth tips as I mentioned.

I came by your thread to check up.
For whatever reason, I'm not being any notifications when you post.
I didn't think you quit the hobby so popped in to see for myself.

Everything is looking good here.

FTS this morning. I just switched over to the new ReefBreeders app from Nexus. Very simple to use.

Growth continues since the addition of Kalk 24/7. Kalk is running 2mlm/2800ml a day.
Carx is at 32bpm and 12mlm effluent.
Alk is holding steady at 8 now. Going to keep alk at 7.7-8.3 for values.
Ph is now 7.9 low and 8.2 day. Bringing the low ph up from 7.6 has brought significant growth from many corals.
The whole system looks better, imo.

Took some par readings today.
50's
Red 40%
Green 40%
White 50%
Royal blue 70%
Blue 70%
Violet 70%
UV/V bars 100%
Across the rockwork
Photons 220-300
UV/V bars 75-100
Both on 320-380

1hr up/down
8hrs peak

Corals overall have improved color, extention, and growth.
This is a direct effect from running Kalk for 2 weeks now.
Ordered a 6 gal Advanced Acrylic Kalk reservoir.

Removing the no3 reactor helped low ph at night.
No3 today was 11
Po4 was .1
Carx is running at half speed.
Kalk is 24/7 @ 2mlm or 2.8 liters a day.
Ph low is now 7.9 at night and 8.2-8.3 during lights on.

Pic of my Maroon Clown and a pic of the system with a better filter.

Beautiful tank! I like how much coralline algae you have.

Thanks! I have not cleaned the outside of the 2 6255's since startup 1.5 years ago. Just clean the impeller, cover, internals and back in. I have cleaned the inside twice in that time.
Great pumps with plenty of power.
