I had the same issue with them. this is what I bought:
OCTO.JPG
The most expensive octo coral I have ever purchased
This is what I got:
20190718_123428.jpg

I was told its because he took it under halides... Whatever dude, You see the nice pink one behind it, I paid 50 bucks for it this one I paid $300.00 for the extremely rare red and blue OCTO coral...not quite.

You are right, I have a D70. I also have a Minolta Maxim 35 mm film camera. Both in use and work great. But the age of the camera is not really a concern, the alleged WYSIWYG photo was taken in 2008 for a coral I bought this week! Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.

What date did you purchase this OCTO? Was it advertised as WYSIWYG? Forensics are on it! In retrospect, the extreme corals does have large, healthy corals. Sure high prices and fancy selling verbiage are the benchmark.
You can look past the verbiage, decide on pricing budgets for your hobby, but I think in very unfair to either photoshop or provide unrealistic photos for web sales. Furthermore it is unethical and false advertising to use photo's that are not the exact subject if you list it as WYSIWYG on your selling site. A coral sold this week with a photo from 2008? Honest mistake? - questionable at best.

I purchased it July 15th, 2019

EXIF data:
1. Photo taken July 15, 2019 @ 16:26:05
2. Photographer Garrick Goodwiler
3. pixel dimensions 798 X 587
4. JPEG
5. Color Model RGB

Looks like yours was bought the same day as the pic was posted? If it was, it may be ligit. No way to tell if photoshopped. FYI, I can get those colors in my tank with even xenia using my Kessil refugium light on red spectrum shining into the display. Looks awesome making all the corals look different until I turn it off. Still not something you would normally do.
Sorry for your disappointment and thank you for the photo. I am in Dallas occasionally so will pay them a visit to see what's up.

Have you noticed that all of the "sorry, this WYSIWYG is sold" pics are no longer posted? Must be website maintenance day? Hmm

I have ordered from him once and my item was DOA. I asked for a refund but he would only give a credit. I was never able to get anything that I wanted because it seems that all the nice items are sold as soon as they go up or maybe before. I tried to contact him and he was never available and when I finally got him on the phone he was bat**** screaming. I think the guy is sketchy but he seems to have nice stuff on his site.

OK. Here is my fair and balanced review:
1. The torch I bought appears to be doing better. It is opened up, ballooned up and is a good size. It will need to open another inch to match the description on the site. Who knows, may happen?
2. The reviews and reports of fantastic photography concerns are founded. (dunno if it is factual to say photo shopped) No matter what lighting I use, even full blue on Steve's LED's will not make this coral I received look like advertised. Could it be it will latter...Dunno. Could it be their lighting is so much different that they can make it look like this pic...questionable.
3. The torch I did receive in short is somewhat of a disappointment. Not because it is sick or ugly, but because it is no different than one I already had that was less than one third the price from Cali Kid Corals. Granted, that was 5 months ago and torches are on fire lately, but still, if it were a pic of a beautiful Aussie gold with blue tips, I would NOT have bought it. I bought it based on the pic and description of which I think both are overdone.
4. I called Extreme Corals as soon as I opened the box to let them know of my concerns. No human answer so I left a message. I have not heard from them after 27 hours.

Does anyone watching know what the colorful pink speckles apart from the coral that are on the top right of the pic are? Is that photo shop evidence? That is actually the color mixed with the "radioactive orange" that made me purchase this coral at such a premium price.

Yikes! I just ordered from here in hopes to get the actual color I picked. What is the status of your coral and did they ever respond back?
Good luck to you. It will never look like the pic i bought it from because all though posted as WYSIWYG it was a extremely old pic doctored up to look like a torch that probably doesn't exist as pictured.very expensive and overpriced standard ausi gold is what i got at twice the price it should have been. I will never order from them again. Never retuned my call but did remove some pics as i was checking file dates and imbeded photo info. Sleazy co in my opinion. Some people apparently get lucky, as they are still in business, or the wide reach of the web lets them ride on.

I did use PayPal, so that’s good
Read my answer on the thread “ why can’t I find a welsophyllia to buy”. I bought one from him and it didn’t in any way look like the pic. It was Felipa day late and it died and he wouldn’t do anything about it so I did a chargeback only card. He calls me and told me to never get on his site again. Everything I have bought from him arrived dead or died later and he would do nothing and it never looked like the pic.

You would think you wouldn't want on his site ever again anyway. Regardless of what he said!

I don’t. he misrepresents his product. He could have given me a credit and just written it off as another coral that died but he wouldn’t. I’m kidof done with this hobby anyway. Stuff is so expensive now it’s crazy. We pay more for a frag than we used to for a high end colony. 4-5 hundred for a torch we used to pay 50 for is insane. I threw a torch in the trash once because i didn’t have space for it and no one wanted it.

My “Holy Grail” Torch arrived tomorrow. I am hopeful I am one of the ones that is happy with what they get. Trying to be optimistic right now.

Please let us know how that goes for you.

I did receive a email and phone call from Scott.
We had a good discussion about business, his position on ethics and honesty. He sounded very collected, calm and really a nice family guy with years of coral experience. We even discussed some past reefers grievances including the reporting of his responses whereby Scott claimed to have gone out of his way to solve issues out of his control (weather). In no way can I substantiate or refute the claims that Scott is belligerent, cruel, unreasonable or unethical. I can only go by what I see or what I read. For now I say no he isn't. He is however in business with a very tough model of selling sensitive living creatures whereby DOA or sickly corals is a reality of life. But as I said in the post before, negative reviews will dominate website reviews as many happy vendors sit back and enjoy their purchase rather than getting back on the computer to give praise. For now, I reserve judgement hoping for reports of happy purchases that resemble the photo representation. This is not to say that I was happy with my purchase, as I clearly wasn't. Scott's phone call went a long way with me believing that he does care about customer satisfaction. Who knows, with positive R2R reviews I may try extreme corals again. By the way, Scott did NOT ban me from his website! Ha Ha!
