Hi All
Ive been into reef keeping for close 10 years now.
I had to shut my last tank due to a change of circumstances and have felt the desire to get back into the hobby ever since.
I decided if I was going to do it again that it would be done right with quality equipment and as close to a dream build as possible.
I settled on a 425XL reefer as it's larger than my last tank, but not so large that it's obnoxious for our relatively small house.
I wanted to do a mixed reef and be selective with the corals I choose.
Unforuntately living in NZ, we have limited choice and everything is expensive, but there are some stunning tanks around and if you make friends, frags swaps can happen.
Anyway, on with some photos..
Arrival day. See that little step onto my deck, that turned out to be a back breaking pain for me and the wife. To her credit she lifted the glass DT without complaint and helped me mount it onto the stand.
Everything came well packaged and undamaged.
I took my time and completed it over 2 days.
Ive read some mixed reviews on Red Sea tanks on here, but I was happy with the build quality.
Setup with sand in place. I rinced the sand with took an age to dry out. I ended up putting it on a tarp on the desk to get full sun for 2 days until it was bone dry.
More to come, adding updates in stages...
