Fake Aiptasia X

Hi, I just received a bottle of Aiptasia X from an online retailer and it does not seem to be the same product. It has no pink hue to it and is watery unlike my old bottle which was viscous. I understand now after looking around that Aiptasia X was discontinued so I am a bit concerned.

Sure, here it is. It has some pink to it, just very faint and watery. I will note it looks legit other than that as far as tools etc.

It sounds old... I let a bottle sit for a year once, all the 'stuff' sank to the bottom and only watery stuff up top. Did you shake it?

I did not hear about this product being discontinued, I can buy a bottle today from several places...

Looks fine to me. It matches the color of mine which was bought 2+years ago. I actually just noticed it's supposed to expire soon but I just used it last week and it worked as it should. I don't think it's discontinued I see some of the bigger sellers are currently sold out of it probably from the holidays.

Take this as it’s a grain of salt as I’m not 100% sure. If it is a fake it’s a good one. Yes, I did shake it and same consistency.

If you've got some calcium hydroxide powder (kalk) and sodium hydroxide (Lye) you can make a more potent DIY version.

Yes, I have heard of this I just wasn’t sure if the aiptasia would eat it and explode like with Aiptasia X. This bottle was just to give my Bergia time to multiply into an army. To get the aiptasia around the corals and stuff.

No, they don't explode, they burn to death in a tiny white, caustic overcoat. I've got it in my head the Aiptasia X is just a massively concentrated calcium chloride solution, which one could also DIY, if true.

Yea, I have no idea what’s in it. I guess it’s just kind of like the brand effect for me. I believe a homemade paste would work just as well though if not better like you said.
