I am going to replace the fan on a gen 5 XR15, plus clean out a couple others.
Any videos out that detail this?
I'm sure it's probably pretty simple, but I hate surprises.

I'm hoping someone here has done this swap.
I contacted ETM's tech support and all that person was able to come up with is how to do a case and lens swap, which is nowhere near what I need.

It is rather simple. Take out the case screws - the case splits into two pieces. The fan has 4 through bolts and a standard connector. The heatsink is 1 piece. It will be full of crud and corrosion. Salt creep can grow into the board, so make sure that is all cleaned up.

Ohh you said gen 5... lol I thought it said gen 1.

I any case (no pun) I can't see it being at all complicated.

I just asked, and was told it's straight forward, it requires both cases to be removed, the hardest part is fishing the cable past the driver, which may require full disassembly. He said it's a little trickier on a xr30.
Getting the bottom case off is the easy part, but how do you remove the top case?
There are no visible screws.

Oh poop,
I just looked down the inside of the top hanging mount holes, and there does appear to be somesort of screw. Not sure what the pattern is, but will try torx first.

Ok, I did hear back from a tech at ETM and she sent me a video showing how to take apart the gen 5 XR15. Full disassembly.
On it showed going in through the top by taking out the torx screws located inside the mounting bushings ( for lack of a better term). Once the top plastic plate is off, then the fan has 2 mounts plastic brackets held on with 2 torx screws.

I see by my tracking info the new fan should arrive tomorrow.

This video shows how to take the whole fixture apart. ( In case anyone wondered)
Seems pretty poor design on the fixture itself to require this much work to replace the only moving part on the fixture.

Did the replacement fan come in?
Yes it did and I got it installed.
I thought I had done something wrong when I plugged the fixture back in.
I couldn't hear anything and looking at the fan ( from a couple feet away) I couldn't see the fan working.
Looking closer the clean all black fan was spinning ( no dirt or dust on the fan) and it was absolutely silent.
