Amazing, just amazing. When you see a Turbinaria that large it so impressive, takes a lot of patience and mad skill to grow out such a beautiful piece.Closer shots through the front looking glass. I looked like a wild man scaring off my fishes to take pics of the structure and corals. They kept following me around the tank begging for food.
Amazing photos! Pretty impressive that you can get that Dof in the photos with the macro lens. I have a 100mm macro and if i use it i can only aee the tips in focus.Someone else requested colony shots so here’s a couple in the display.

Haha, that’s right! Thank you sir!Sweet, that would have been me!
Thank you as always! That tubinaria has been with me for 12-13 years and started as a 1” frag.Amazing, just amazing. When you see a Turbinaria that large it so impressive, takes a lot of patience and mad skill to grow out such a beautiful piece.
When and if you get a chance can you post an image of the Bonsai vs GARF in the back ( I may have the ID wrong ).
The Fox Flame certainly gets my attention as well.

That 60mm is everything. I try to use a higher fstop when possible. My first lens was a 90mm macro. Loved getting close to the subject but DOF was frustrating. The 60mm gives me great DOF to get the whole frag in focus and takes great mini-colony shots as well. I always heard to get a 90mm macro for reef pics but if I were doling out advice to new photographers, I’d recommend a 60mm as your first lens personally.Amazing photos! Hey Mitten! I have one Oregon tort (left), one UC Turquoise Tort (middle), and one CB Blue tort (right). In person they look all very different but in landscape style shots, they look all the same.Do you have 3 OT colonies around the tank (1 on left and 2 on the right)? If not, what are the two deep blue on the right? (one looks like it could be a very blue CaliTort)
Thanks so much!Amazing FarmerTy, the coral colors are looking fantastic
Sold me. I went with a used Nikon 60mm though, can't justify the big bucks for one like yoursThat 60mm is everything. I try to use a higher fstop when possible. My first lens was a 90mm macro. If you think of it from a price per picture viewpoint, I probably have taken 400 pictures with that $400 60mm Laowa lens I bought... $1 a picture and it’s just going to get less as we go per picture. That’s what I tell myself to sleep at night. Haha!Sold me. I went with a used Nikon 60mm though, can't justify the big bucks for one like yours
ps: you should give us some tank shots like that of the frag tanks.
I’m currently at 450 with it. Pink is nice but I think color may look better at 350. I may move it to a medium par spot instead and see what it does. So the jury is still out for me.hey buddy
what level of lighting do you think CC Disney Jr likes ? high or medium. ?
How do you know whether to move it up or down for the color you’re trying to draw out?I’m currently at 450 with it. Pink is nice but I think color may look better at 350. I may move it to a medium par spot instead and see what it does. So the jury is still out for me.
I don’t. Just experimentation. Easier to cut a frag and put it in lower or higher par typically. How do you know whether to move it up or down for the color you’re trying to draw out?
Yeah, always drives me nuts if a shaded branch looks awesome. Then I’m like, I’m going to stuff the whole colony in a dark corner. It’ll be glorious!I keep my cc wd jr in about 350 but the shaded branches get some crazy colors.
Here’s a crappy pic of a shaded wd jr branch next to a psycho asylum frag. The wd jr is on the right.
