Yes I saw you making this point in other threads. Is Favites and pentagona a species or subspecies (i don’t know the word for lower taxon) of favia? What group does favia fit into, how does it relate to favites/pentagona?

Favites pentagona is the species, Favites is the genus, Merulinidae is the family, and Scleractinia is the order. Favia is of the family Faviidae, a family made up entirely of West-Atlantic endemics. Most of what we call "Favia" in the hobby are Dipsastraea, which is in the family Merulinidae. Faviidae and Merulinidae are distantly related; they, along with Lobophylliidae, Montastraeidae, and Diploastreidae make up a clade within Scleractinia.
