Favia mouths gaping

Noticed this evening my Favia war coral all the mouths were gaping,and some brown stuff came out of a couple of the mouths. Is it just pooping, or is this something else possibly?? I am a beginner so this is all new to me, thanks in advance!! Oh, sorry I did not get a pic.

How long have you had them? Lighting and tank parameters?
It's possible either waste, or discharge of zooanthelia. (Think I spelled that right)

Usually when brown stuff comes out it's poo...I've had zoas palys nems and hammers do this to me.
Something may be specific with that coral so definitely wait for more replies but in my experience, it's just poo lol

I've had it probably 3 or 4 weeks. It looks normal now.

lol a fancy word for pooing extra nutrients. Most of the time it's either overfed or too much light that makes this occur.

I have recently started increasing lighting intensity.

Although I have a rock nem that poos like crazy and never gets fed while I feed all the others and they never do.

All this time and I thought the two were different. Huh, learn sumn new every day. Lol. Part of why I love this hobby.

They might be slightly different. I mean...if a coral is bleaching it can release its zooxanthellae (holy crap auto correct recordnized it) but it can also do it if it's just excess nutrients.

Hopefully it works out, I just glued this sucker down permanently last week.

Maybe someone else can elaborate on brown jelly disease?
Not sure if that's specific to torches/hammer etc. I've never seen my acans do that.
