Gaping zoa mouth issue

Hey reefers,

Has anyone seen symptoms like this in their zoas where their mouths are wide open in addition to a ballooning polyp effect? Some on the edges have declined in sizes

It’s been like this all day since last night. It’s as if it’s trying to expel something or rescinding or dealing with a major micro issue internally or externally.

Curious if anyone else has any experiences with this particular issue. No pests or predators in the tank. Other zoa are doing fine.

I’m going to let it be through tonight and check back on it tomorrow. If if doesnt stabilize, I may consider trying a dip.

What's your tank size and lighting and flow situation?

Thanks for checking in. Major and trace parameters are dialed after months of ICP testing refinement w/ avg. 7.5 Dkh and salinity is dialed in too. Po4 .14 and no3 is 17. Calcium 450.

This zoa is surrounded by other happy zoas. So it’s not a water chemistry or typical Zoanthid pest.

You mentioned your salinity is dialed in. Do you know what it is?
Also, do you have a wrasse or something for pest control? It looks like you have flatworms.

Salinity is 1.0261
Yes there is a wrasse in the system.

Any flatworms are the acole flatworms and they’re seldom visible in the tank.

I’ve been doing a daily dip with lugols as part of that. I gave it a break yesterday for them to rest and may resume again today. Will report on the results.
