Nearing the end of a 2+ year journey (lots of ups and downs along the way) of adding fish to 625g FOWLR and 240g semi-reef main aquariums. Found myself pausing to think about my favorite, holy grail and regrettable fish.

My favorite, with best personality and antics is my Australian Harlequin Tusk followed by the Conspic Angel. Honorable mentions: Emperor, Scribbled, Goldflake and blue line angel’s. Got to throw in my Sargassum trigger as well!

Holy Grail fish: Conspic Angel followed by Gem and Achilles tangs. Many would also consider juvenile goldflake and blue line in this category.

fish I regret getting: Lightning Maroon clown- In fact he’s currently in sump and I will likely sell him soon.

SO WHAT”S YOUR FAV, HOLY GRAIL AND REGRETTABLE FISH?

One of our favorites is our quoy parrotfish. Never a dull moment with that guy, and he's endlessly entertaining - from squirting water at us during feeding, chasing the cleaner wrasse around the tank or inserting himself al la Jaws into the pellet feeder ring.

The holy grail has to be our marine betta. One of the coolest, calmest fish you can imagine. And so polite when eating! (not like the other pigs) We've only ever seen the one, so we're glad we snagged him. He also occasionally sleeps on his head with his tail sticking up (quite hilarious).

Biggest regret has to be a yellow belly damsel, or I should say yellow belly a**hat. This fish was an absolute terror - and would make it his mission to dig the substrate up wherever and whenever it suited him. He would even watch me fill-in a hole, then swim back over and dig it twice as deep. Absolute bully as well until we put a sailfin in with him who finally put him in his place. He disappeared a few months ago and we only recently found his mummified corpse under the tank stand.

i cant think

…I don’t have a “Holy-Grail” fish, I do however have a tilefish! 0% regrets 100% personality, this guy bobs in and out of his cave for 80% of the time and the other 20% he’s out in the surface and loving life.
My regrettable fish is a jade wrasse, aggressive. Getting returned as soon as I can get her in the bag.
