Favorite oddball fish? And would you keep one?

Oh man, where to start...

Spotted sand-diver (Trichonotus setiger)
Snake blenny
Qouyi parrotfish
Jackknife fish
Bicolor goatfish

If I had a bigger tank, I'd definitely give the goatfish and/or jackknife fish a try.

If I was serious about a quoyi, I'd probably set up a separate sunlit (possibly outdoor) system solely to grow the biofilm it needs for continual grazing, and I'd switch out a new piece of rock and/or tile every day from DT to the biofilm tank and vice versa. For this reason, I'll probably never actually keep a quoyi parrotfish.

My LFS has a quoyi parrotfish in there big sps display, it's beautiful!

I have thought it would be cool to have a cresent tail hogfish (

Bodianus sepiacauda)

in my reef, but its always listed as "with caution"

Not the original commenter, but I have a dwarf sole too! He waits for his food every night after lights out. Here's a little video of him emerging from the sand and snacking on some frozen food mix. I pretty much never see him until it gets dark.

Other than that, my favorite oddball fish are razor gobies. I just got them 2 months ago, and they've been amazing peaceful tankmates.

So cute!! Fantastic camouflage too he blends right in with the sand. Nice shot of the razor gobies too!

Nice I love reef setups for eels, what kinds of morays do you have?
Ive got a snowflake, white eye, jeweled and the last I believe is a pinda moray. Shes been hard to ID 😂 store ordered her as a miscellaneous moray eel. I lost my Zebra eel in the frantic move I had to make a few months ago to get out of a DV situation. She was a great eel.

If you want a similar, but very peaceful and much smaller fish, consider a wrasse from the Terelabrus genus. I have one and he's very personable and a great tankmate.

Here's my T. dewapyle (most likely, was labeled as Terelabrus sp.)

This is a great suggestion, Christinna!

It's hard to pick a favourite between the nothern blue devil (Paraplesiops poweri) and the spanish flag snapper (Lutjanus carponotatus) that i had in my old 200g tank. The blue devil was very personable and would come out to greet me every time i came up to the tank. You can see both of them in this video:

So many cool fish in this tank! The red coris wrasse and bird wrasse are both bucket list fish for me.
