I love this wrasse. So beautiful and docile.

What kind of wrasse is this?? Also, what kind of luck have you had with that angel? I want to add an angel to my roof so bad but after a lemon peel and coral beauty killed a gorgeous frozen tundra Trachy I am very hesitant. Couldn’t move the trachy to QT fast enough

That is my Terminal male Anampses neoguinaicusis, AKA China wrasse or Porcelain wrasse. Not the easiest wrasse to get establish but not impossible and is very beautiful, but relatively inexpensive. Does not get too large. Mine is about 4.5-5 inches. Started out just under 2 inches about 5 years ago. There is a thread on my China wrasse somewhere here

How reef safe are they? I know that they feed on coral polyps.
Their natural diet is the mucus from millepora polyps. A healthy (not starving), well fed osff will typically not damage any coral. There is some risk if there are small frags, the filefish isn’t accustomed to a prepared diet, or if they aren’t fed multiple times per day. I feed mine 5-6 times per day (3 times w/ auto feeder). If you are familiar with their mouths, essentially it’s a tiny tube. They are literally incapable of ripping or tearing coral flesh as you may witness an angel or butterflyfish do.

Love the JD! We had one when I was a kid (and couple oscars) - she lived for almost 15 years I believe. Super fun fish. RIP Rainbow. ❤

Bicolor Angel.
This is a very elegant angle with simple but highly contrast coloration

Beautiful! I've been trying to decide between this or a lemon peel angel as the final addition to my tank in a few months... I know they're not 100% reef safe though - have you had good experience with yours?

I have a feeling that's how I'll end up as well, as I decided to get into saltwater more for the fish than corals too. Corals and nems are just background for the fish to me. :) I don't plan to buy expensive or hard to keep corals for that exact reason. Thanks!

I'm with @OrionN .... lots of softies, and big Nems to fill up the space ( which I love) , then the fish have a bit of spotlight too...

So many fish with captivating behaviors. (Though I also find myself mesmerized by corals and nems tentacles waving around, lol)
