Still a bad picture but the 6 line is getting more confident. And the fish all seem to be cool with each other right now.

Thanks. I was slightly worried about the 6 line being in a tank this small, but I really wanted one to take care of the red planaria and get any nudibranches that might be on the zoa colony. Seems like all the caves and arches are keeping the fish busy for now.

Never looked into the tank this late. Every LPS had their feeders extended out so I decided to give them a mysis snack. The platygyra took mysis in and was fully extended again in about 2 minutes. Even the clowns braved the dark to get a midnight snack.

No big updates. Everything is growing great. All the new micromussa heads are growing nicely. Havnt seen any more pests trying to come back. Green hair algae showed up for a couple weeks then melted away. Cyano did start showing up again, but I’m just letting the tank do it’s thing.

Also went from 2 gallon weekly water changes to 1 gallon.

The current job I’m at decided they wanted to build a wall through our parts lay down area so I finally got a couple weeks of overtime. Told the wife I wanted to use an hour of it to buy a coral I saw at a LFS close to my house. So I came home with a gold torch today.

This is the most expensive coral I’ve ever gotten so I’m a little nervous about it. But it should do just fine being that everything in the tank it growing.

Cyano has also made a come back. I siphoned some out with last weeks water change and it hasn’t come back and no new spots have appeared so I’m just going to continue to let the tank do it’s thing.

Gold torch is doing good so far. Cyano is also starting to get worse. Tested ammonia, nitrate, nitrate and all are 0 on my test.

Does anyone have an idea on how to take care of cyano or should I just continue my let it be approach? I don’t really want to use more chemicals in the tank.

Did a water change and moved my green zoas again. Basically fragging off what has grown onto the rock and letting it grow out to another spot. I’m thinking of seeing if my LFS will trade them for a different zoa. The others a growing quickly but can’t compete with the numbers the green has.

Still super busy at work. Contractor is tired of paying for man lifts so they’re paying us to build the freight elevators faster. Taking advantage of every hour I can. In other news, the tank need to go on the back burner, I have 5 vehicles and I can only legally drive 2 of them. So any extra money needs to go to parts and services for the cars.

With that said I did get in on the Presidents’ Day live sale at your reef. Pick up day is tomorrow but I’m going to be getting home late. So I’ll probably get some pictures up Tuesday.

A little disappointed with the corals I received from the live sale. One was what was pictured but the others are lacking color. 584D88D8-DEB0-475F-8B73-FB506EBEA6F3.jpeg The micro was what was pictured and am happy with
13171975-651D-479A-9D83-E9B08EE1AD93.jpeg The forest fire digi, although fairly large. Is lacking any color at all really. I did accidentally frag it 2 times while trying to get it off the frag plug and the smallest bit is already starting to get its green base back.
D6190E2B-C611-453F-B8EC-A9CB4F966886.jpeg The red and green zoas are starting to color up. But the ones in the front I’m not too sure about. They were plain in the picture but they are really plain now. Good thing they were only $2
Although they’re lacking in color they all seem healthy. The LFS also had a lot of nice looking corals. I’m probably going to try them out again.

Well all purchases on the reef will have to be stopped for awhile except for maintenance expenses. Yesterday in the 40 mile an hour winds what looked like a tonneau cover (I think, I only got to see it for a second about) flew up from the other side of the highway and nailed my car. So this put 4 out of my 5 vehicles unable to drive. So I took the opportunity to finally do some inspections on my truck that was claimed a total loss from a box truck hitting it 2 years ago. I’ve owned the truck for 13 years now and has too much sentimental value to me. I already have an appointment through insurance to look at my other car and get it fixed. But when all is said and done I’ll be out about $1200. So no more reefing for a little bit.

Forest fire monti is doing good. The smallest accidental frag is really starting to color up. The larger piece is starting to get a blue base which is what the small one did before it turned green. Also going back to 2 gallon weekly water changes. Even though I can’t see nutrients in the test the cyano won’t go away. So going back to what I did before the cyano.

Long time since an update. Still no money for the tank. They ended up totaling my car. Even though they pulled an almost max credit score the apr is crazy high so the replacement cost almost double what my old one was. Anyway. Cyano started to calm down a bit. Moved up to 3 gallon weekly water changes. Corals are still growing very well.

Lights are dimming down and the stylo retracts polyps like clock work about 30 minutes before lights off. Makes it nicer for growth pictures though because the light isn’t reflected off the polyps. Also got 2 cerith snails and one tiny emerald crab. Figured I’d risk it to help keep the bubble algae in check.

Well my six line got out of the tank Friday morning. No idea how as the glass lid fits tight but I guess he found the perfect hole. Clown fish haven’t left their corner since.

So my old six line was doing the job I wanted it to. Starting to get a red planaria outbreak. Red cyano is almost gone now but being replaced by a green slime. Ramped up WCs to 3-4 gallons. Depending on how much I’m paying attention as I’m sucking stuff out. Green slime isn’t coming back as fast as it was before. Here are some update pictures.

Bubble algae is still bad. I don’t think the emerald crab I got a couple weeks ago made it so I’m probably going to get another tomorrow.

Took a couple more weeks of my FMLA a little bit ago, took a quick drive to Monterey and took my boy to the aquarium.

He loved all the fish activity swimming in the reef tanks. I also love the galaxia coral that had in the tank too.

So while the wife was gone on a weekend trip I took my son with me to a couple LFSs and happened to find a galaxia. Placed that in the back side of the tank that’s still visible from the front. I want to keep it as far away from the other corals as possible but still viewable. I also picked up a green slimer. I’ll get some pictures when the lights are on tomorrow.

Just another fun picture of the aquarium. The two red fish in the background ended up swimming up to the front and one of them had a particular interest in my son. It sat there for a good 5 minutes with its nose up to the glass sizing up my boy.
