Feather Duster Help

This morning I found one of my hermits trying to clean the algae of the stem of a feather duster. The hermit didn't realize he was wearing it down. I tried to get the hermit of but when I scared him he clung tighter to the stem. I was eventually able to get him of. Is my feather duster ok?

Probably fine.

If they are stressed, the first thing they do is toss their crowns. So unless you see the crown floating around, it's probably fine.

That crab probably has done that 100 times when you weren't looking and at night.

It has not opened up all day.

When was the last time it did? 2 things could have happened...he could have moved and will make a new tube or he is dead and the hermit was after a free meal...

Pretty sure it’s fine my feather duster which is a decent size lost its entire stem thanks to the sea urchin I placed it on a rock it’s been fine since building new stem for months

I found the hermit on it again and when I took it off the feather duster had a hole in it.

Can you bury the tube in the sand? Or rocks?
