Feather Duster- Lost Feathers

So I have had my feather duster for several months now. A few weeks after I purchased it, the feathers disappeared. Lucky me, I did research that they can drop them and it is probably still alive. Well this time the feathers seamed to shrivel over about maybe 2 weeks and last night they dropped off. I feed it 3 x a week reef roids, spot fed with baster. I only have basic water tests (specific gravity 1.023, PH 8.0, ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate 0 or not detected by my test kit) Could it be dead this time or just wait again cause it shed feathers and will grow them again?

From what I've read, they only eat live phytoplankton. Do you ever add phyto to your tank? If not, it may be starving. I think Reef Roids may be too large for them to consume.

Well so I am not sure as my LFS said 3x week with reef roids and it has been doing well for several months. Maybe two weeks ago I added https://www.algagen.com/algagenpods1.html The Harpacticoids - AlgaGenPods™ Tisbe I got from my LFS. Not so sure about your theory on the roids since they are good for filter feeders....I could see if it was doing poorly from when I got it then I would say I starved it to death but it has been since November that it has been in my tank. (New tank 56 gal started Sept 2018 with 50lbs live rock with real stuff on them like tube worms and various sponge stuff from LFS). Maybe your right and it took this long for it to starve to death? I would think though that when it dropped its crown the first time, that that was it...
