Hello! I wish to hear from a refer WHO have kept feather duster for 1+ years succsessfully and i mean the big kind like Sabellidae species etc. If you are that person could you please share the care and secrets for long term success with these guys,

I currently keep 4 of them in a 270L cube with 4 seahorses and a court jester Goby + huge cleanup crew (60+ different kind of snails)

I also grow 2 types of phyto as Well nanno and tetra. I also culture copepods which i feed with a couple of times a week both spot feeding and broadcast feeding. I change about 30-40L a week since its a seahorse tank.

The tank is 10 weeks old, i know it goes against seahorse rules and feather dusters to add so early but i breed them (the seahorses) and they are fully trained to eat out of Shells which makes it easy for me to remove uneaten food there is no issue with nitrates phosphstes, ammonia nitrite.

Phos : 0.06
Nitrate: 14.7
Calcium:440
Magnesium:1475
Kh/alk:9.5

Thanks in advance

As long as they can filter food out of the water column, they are quite easy

Nice thanks for reassuring me that they are quite easy, i have never kept these guys before in my 6 years of reefing and i have done alot of research before getting them. Just wanted to hear what specifik thing you guys do but i guess there is nothing special to it then. I will stick with my feeding regime due to the tank being so new. I have seen though a white edge on one of the tube entrance, is that new growth?

They're pretty easy to keep alive. Be careful dosing things for issues that may pop up later. I had a bubble algae issue in my old tank and dosed some Brightwell Razor... Everything did great but it killed my feather duster worm. It didn't like it at all.

Yeah i never dose anything to battle something, there is always a natural way to deal with it combined with your own 2 hands. Right now that tank is in it’s ugly stage and im letting it run its course, this is my other tank, mixed reef

That is the way! There are just too many unknowns with all the quick fix products.

Exactly how i feel, this tank i showed has been up for about 16 months and i been through alot of annoying things, i upgraded to this tank when we moved and i had a smaller tank before and transferd everything over, things did not go smoothly 😅 got gha outbreak, bubble algae, diatomer, dinos, cyano you name it i had it but all it took was the right amount of cuc, fishes and my own 2 hands for ”mechanical filter” and patience to win 😅
