Maybe we can tag or add "official entry" to everything we want judged? So we can still discuss and share on these threads but make less work for the mods?

TBH since it is a contest probably just posting an entry pick would be best and easiest on the mods since they have to wade through all the banter already. If someone wants to change an entry they can just edit their original post.

I understand the rules. I am assuming the moderators are volunteering their time and energy to this competition. The number of submissions and amount of discussion/ photo sharing on the submission threads seems to have significantly increased recently. I'm just offering a suggestion where maybe the mods can sort submissions without carefully reading each post.

I think non paid members have a limited window to edit their post. A ricordea picture was posted on the current March thread. And by the time OP was alerted it was an SPS contest, they couldn't edit the post.

That is correct there is a time limitation for editing for non paid members

maybe r2r introduces a thing, where for certain threads, mods can only lock to photos only, there can be a discussion part too, so 2 tabs in a thread!! one which sorts photos, the other where its general discussions @revhtree

Indeed checking the owners against 4-5 pages for each submission is impossible so would be best to tag any pictures that are not submissions so we can take then out from the selection

Yes when they are in the same post. Different submissions in different posts is not possible to track except manually across 4-5 pages, will be modifying the rules so members indicate on any picture post when it's not a submission.

Correct, yet another possibility is a quick tag and I can delete the old post or tag it as not an entry.

I am stepping forward to inform / disclose that I have multiple pics that were selected and I am the owner of 2, 3 and 4.

I would like to officially withdraw 2 and 3 and have my entry be the acan picture

Kindly merge the votes from 2 and 3 over to pic 4 :) kidding of course

Slots 2 and 3 should go other members if possible

Adding other members pictures is not possible as I'm afraid it will reset the vote...

Pic 3-4 will be disqualified, I'll check to see if we can remove them without affecting the ongoing Poll...
I don't want to limit how many pictures one can post as non submissions as that is key for ongoing discussions at times yet as happened here can cause confusion when selecting pictures for finalists votes. So will explore the options and add it to the POTM rules.

Just my 2 cents. I think people will have incentive to mark a post as "official submission". The group can help nudge people when it is left off, and in time can be adopted. I think marking all other posts " not a submission " might often get left off and may cause a similar amount of work sorting.

Again, what is the process to select the pictures that go to vote? 4-5 pages with a few pictures on each one (since all posts aren’t photo submissions) isn’t really that difficult or that much to keep track of.

Isn’t it also your job as the one in charge, to make sure people are following the rules? Is it just you? Do you need help? It’s just wild that not only were some of the photos selected not even some of the better ones submitted, but now there’s someone who has 3 of the 15 spots.

And I want to be very clear, I do not feel like I should have won this month’s, or even made it to the voting round. My picture was of 3 mini-colonies in a “garden”. Compared to some of the colonies actually submitted, I get not being picked. But the voting for this came halfway into the next month. If it’s just too much for one person, is it possible to get another 1-2 people to help out?

I agree. One of my posts with a pic was clearly labelled to indicate I was not changing my entry to this pic. Then it appears in the vote thread.

Then I was asking for help learning how someone made edits and I tested it out but I wasn’t submitting a pic.

It’s wild. A 5 page thread takes a few min to read. Someone has to save the image in order to post it in the vote thread. They have to save the username so they know whose pic it is in case they win. So an extra 10 Seconds can’t be spent to look through the list of users with selected photos to look for duplicates?
