Feed New Angel

I just got a Flame Angel (Centropyge loricula) and I have a question about feeding it (they are hermaphroditic so it is correct right?)

First, it just came home from the LFS so I imagine it will be off it's feed for a few days. But when it realizes it is in a much larger and more interesting tank it should start to eat normally. Let's go over just what normal is. Its an omnivore and will eat meat and vegetables (algae). So specific angel food, mysis, and other meat based fish foods.

Now the questions. Would it be a good thing to stick a piece of algae in a clip to nibble on? Can I use raw nori intended for people? It looks so sad pecking at the rocks in the fairly new tank.

Clipping raw nori for humans to a rock is an excellent idea for this.

Nori isn't a bad idea but unless you have other tankmates that eat it it's likely to be ignored initially, so use sparingly so as not to foul the water. Angels eat lots of meaty foods, sponges, and greens. I feed my angels live blackworms and various frozen angel formulas with sponge by both hikari and another common brand I can think of at the moment. PE Mysis is a good choice or CA mysis, spirulina brine is also quite nutritious. As a species they're not all that picky they are however rather fragile to parasites for the first couple months.

Human consumption nori is fine and clipping a small piece to a rock as said above is a great idea.

I dont have a flame angel, but my coral beauty loves red seaweed. Though for the first several weeks i had it, it wouldnt touch it.

You could also try a clam on the half shell. Angles LOVE them :D

Reef Nutrition R.O.E. is what got my flame angel eating.
He really gobbled it up after refusing everything else.
Once he ate the ROE, he eventually ate almost anything offered..

He is eating fine. He just ignores the seaweed holder but I am getting a tang soon so he should get the idea.

In my experience with centropyges, they aren't aggressive feeders on nori. I've never had an individual do anymore than some occasional nipping. I've had good luck with PE mysis, spirulina brine, clams on the half shell, Rods, LRS herbivore blend, and Thera A spectrum pellets.

Mine chow on it but probably because my tangs do. Seriously op, rubberband to a rock very different than a clip works much better initially

Try mysis, chopped mussel, pellets, nori, Marine Cuisine, Emerald Entree, occassional flake, frozen plankton, minced clam, and sponge based foods!
