Feeding LPS

So I’ve been struggling feeding my LPS. I use Benepets reef which is easy, it’s a powder and you mix it with tank water and spot feed, and I have Benepets LPS pellets… if I use a Pipette they don’t fit or they get stuck. With a turkey baster or a long spot feeder, they fall out as soon as the tip goes underwater. How do you all feed pellets to your corals? I mean I could just let them sit it water and break down, and then use it like the reef powder…

It’s the Blastos and acans more so. They get their mysis but I like to try to supplement 2-3 times a week.

Put the pellets in a medicine cup with tank water. Suck that up, and the pellets will stay in the tube. You can also “throttle” the bulb on the feeder. Keep it slightly squeezed to keep a vacuum.

That’s the exact one I bought and tried but they won’t go in the tip and if I take the tip off they come out in the water.

Depends some corals feed in the daytime some send out their feeders at night. Sometimes you can train the night feeders to eat in the daytime though. You need an appetizer circulating in the water first something like oyster feast to get the corals feeding response alive then they will accept larger food like pellets or mysis.

Ok, so maybe I confused you a bit. Dont get me wrong, I completely appreciate the info and help, believe me. But it’s not understanding how or when they eat, I get that. For example, I know my acans are open and their feeder tentacles extended during the day whereas my trumpet corals tend to open at night. However they will all open and feed if I spot feed them. But the problem is how to successfully get one or two pellets to the polyps. If I use the powder, it’s easy. The pellets, on the other hand, either won’t fit in the pipette or will clog it on the way out. Same with the ice cap extended feeder that @PapaFishRocks mentioned. But if I use a turkey baster or take the tip off they thst feeder, i can suck them up but then as soon as the tubes go under water, there’s no more surface tension holding them inside and they all just fall out. So Im trying to figure out a controlled way of getting pellets to the polyps.

I know, it’s sounds like a lot of stupid work for nothing, but entertain me.

I personally feed my Acans, Blastos, Duncans, hammers, and torches Brightwell’s LPS pellets. I turn off all the flow in the tank and use long tweezers to individually feed each head a pellet. Sometimes the hermit crabs just steal them. Sometimes the corals get it. I do that about 1-2 times a week. It’s a little tedious but I enjoy it, plus then I know the coral is getting food.

Have you tried julian's thing? You can get multiple tips for it and trim them to size for each food.

It has worked very well for me, but I have mostly used it for reef roids and mysis shrimp. I don't know, if you cut the tip off for pellets they might spill out just like a turkey baster.

I tried that but I felt like the pellets just stuck to the tweezers. I was also trying to avoid constantly putting my hand in. But I guess it’s the best Im gonna come up with. Maybe I can find longer tweezers.

The tweezers I have are about 18” long so that helps a bit. And sometimes the pellets stick a bit but if you just hold it above the spot you’re trying to drop the pellet. It will normally fall off.
