Hi, starting this build thread to keep track of my progress and get people’s input. I downgraded my 40g cube and sump I’ve had but neglected for 10 years, for this AIO in the hopes that it’ll be easier to manage and the fresh start will motivate me to take better care of it. I had a colonial hydroid problem so spent the last two weeks picking them off one by one before I transferred the LR to the new tank. I also had an acetabularia algae outbreak so similarly scraped those off the LR.

I opted to go with the Tunze 9004 skimmer, I broke it in for a few days on my old tank, once it finally started to produce quality skimmate I moved it over. It barely fit in the skimmer chamber of the Fiji Cube 32G AIO and after 2 weeks of inconsistent skimming and super wet skimmate (if at all) I’ve given up and am going to replace it with the Icecap K1-Nano. It’s a shame as I loved the low profile of the Tunze, you could barely see it stick out from the back of the tank. 32AFBF2A-1CC8-4FA2-BE6F-AC4C9302EDAB.jpeg

Traded my old tank for some cash, corals and a RBTA. The anemone seemed to take but the first night crawled into a cave. It’s been almost a week and now finally starting to move out. I’m hoping by tomorrow he’ll come out, I fed him some frozen brine a couple times to sustain him in the meantime. 846E5B21-4459-4150-B418-8908E8272C45.jpeg 5F3F8C22-C9D6-4DEE-93A2-F12600A5CE24.jpeg

Everything seems to be going well, the nem is coming out. Got a new digital salinity meter but it’s reading 30 salinity vs my new refractometer showing 35… slightly concerning.

It barely fits and the only way it does is with the water flow going directly into the grates. This causes the water level to fluctuate within the skimmer (at least for me). I would recommend the k1-nano, jiffyjhn has another 32g build thread and said it works very well in there. I tried to return my Tunze but wasn’t able so I’m stuck with it for now. If you decide to go with it I’d consider selling it to you at 20% off list price :)

jeez I had already bought mine for like 120 dollars but it needs shipping from China to States. Anyway thanks for the information man, I'll go around and check with jiffyjhn's post.

Have you ever tried to fit the 9004 into the return pump section(if it fits), it seems a little bit roomier than the designated skimmer section.

I tried, but the problem is you have to have it sideways because the chambers are too narrow, and the magnet doesn’t fit in between the two pieces of glass that separate the two chambers

I didn't have the tank and the skimmer on hand so I really don't know what's the actual situation. Tunze 9004 could have been a decent nano skimmer, it's a shame that we couldn't have it fitted into the 32g AIO
