@JCM I would assume that has more to do with the drains than the weir. I thought those overflows were rated based on the drains, not the weir, as I have assumed the weir does not rate limit versus the drains. But I dunno for sure!

But at some point, as I understand it, there is a water level "range" on the weir, depending on your flow rate. If I turn up my pump and open up my drain so the tank isn't using the vented drain too much, nonetheless the water rides higher on the weir.

If the 1250 works for you, then home free!

I have the Fiji Cube 81 gallon tank and my weir is about 1" down from the rim. I'm still setting it up and havent put water in it yet. But from your pictures it looks like you weir is higher then mine

I saw this also. I would have thought the top of the weir would be lower. This could be the photo playing tricks on us. I just bought the same overflow for a new frag tank I’m setting up. I like the build quality so far and am looking forward to getting it running. My tank is coming in Friday, so I’m a while off from setting it up.

I just went and looked: My weir cut-outs (vertical slots) are slightly l-e-s-s than 1/2 way into the waterline inside the tank, and I could still draw more water into the outside overflow box than I would ever need to. So the good news is, (assuming one or more gate valves are being used on the drainpipes for fine-control), the weir height seems to be very forgiving as to placement. ;)

Haha yeah, the garbage bulkheads were my first complaint. I bought a new nut and seals and that seems to have fixed that issue. They certainly won't get a glowing recommendation from me.
Both 3/4" bulkheads received as part of my 32ext Fiji / 400 GPH overflow package were slightly oversized. PVC seemed to slide in and out of those without primer/glue very easy and both developed leaks just a few hours into a leak test. Purchased replacement bulkheads from BRS and had no issue the with the second leak test.

Just cut the slots longer. These internal overflows weren't really designed for rimless tanks IMO and the templates they provide don't account for not having a rim.

Mine was the large bulkhead between internal and external boxes. I finally got it sealed but it took some effort.

I did. I agree, I definitely wouldn't blindly follow the template if I had a do over.

I recently installed an 800 GPH Fiji cube overflow. I used the provided template to set the water height. I set it so the water level was about 1.25" below the top of my rimless tank. Unfortunately when I filled the tank to leak test everything, the water level was about 0.5" below the top. This obviously won't work. Any ideas on how I can lower the water level? Cut the slots in the internal box deeper?
I have this weir and with the template it should be installed where only the 5mm lid for the weir part is higher than the aquarium it looks to me like your too high on your weir. Your holes if you used the template would be 70 mm down from the top of the tank to the centre. Would it help you to shorten the pipes in the rear chamber I think it might Maby you got that wrong or reducing the pump speed will also help I think but like this it’s no good once algae gets on your weir comb water level will start to rise a bit.

Possibly? Here's a picture, water level is about halfway up in the outside box. I tried a mag7 pump and an Eheim 1260, both overpowered the overflow. I went back to my Eheim 1250 that I've had for 12+ years. I ended up dremeling the slots in the weir down, I also chopped the inside box down to sit below the top of the tank. I lost 2 teeth in the process but was definitely worth it.

Overall, the quality of Fiji Cubes acrylic work is nice. Their bulkheads are trash and I don't like this style of overflow on the whole.

Hi. I am currently setting up a 50 cube with that same overflow and was wondering if you have any photos with your current water height and how far up the weir the water level is. Thanks

Older post, but the OP's overflow looks like the hold was drilled too high. The top of my overflow box on my Fiji Cube 48 is slightly lower than the sides of the tank.

Any pics of your water level? This is my new build. The top of the inside box cover is just above the height of the rim of the tank.

Another question. If I wanted to dremel the weir teeth to make them longer, what type of bit or attachment would I use for my dremmel?
