Hello all I’m sure this question has been answered a million times but skimmed thru some threads and didn’t see an exact. I have a BioCube 32 and am using a sponge in place of protein skimmer. I know I will replace this monthly-bi-monthly but when doing water changes should I rinse it with my removed water or is it fine to just leave and replace...... also I use Chemi Pure blue which says to replace every 3 months so same question rinse it or just replace it?

For me, sponges mainly serve to act as a mechanical filter, so that can just be rinsed and replaced as often as one likes until it likely will disintegrate or lose structure or something.

Chemi Pure should be replaced, yes. It is a chemical filtration media and not all of them can be regenerated.
