Filter roller reefers, how clear is your water?

Does it stay consistently clear?

Stays very clear! I love my filter rollers on my Waterbox 160. I will be moving one over to my Waterbox 60, and I was planning on getting this N Clear for my nano Waterbox 15 build.

Crystal clear. It almost looks like the fish are floating in air it’s so clear.

i use a reefmat 500 on my reefer 350, water is crystal clear. The only thing to be careful with filter rollers is that they are so good at cleaning the water that you may bottom out your nutrients. I had to remove my protein skimmer to combat this.

I don't know that I've ever has crystal clear water but this is a recent end shot from my tank with a reefmat. Tank is 36" from this end. Its clear enough for me.

Great idea to show a tank shot. I just dosed 9ounces of PNS probio so idk how much that affects it.

I don't really know how to judge this, so I went with 8. This tank is 4' long, and my end panels are just normal glass.

I've never not had the fleece roller (Trigger Systems) so I don't know what it would look like otherwise.

I think I do remember the Mastertronic having one. Same with some of the new testers coming out Mastertronic Essential, and the Hydros Maven. I’m not 100% on those so don't hold me to that.

I wish I had one of the new testers but it’s spend 1500$ on that or coral and ye… I think I would rather have coral.

Weekly 15% water changes and activated carbon changed twice a week. The left is fresh saltwater and right is tank water with that regular maintenance schedule.

I used ozone for 2 days. Left: new saltwater. Right: tank water

Filter rollers, socks, etc will not remove the yellowing. Ozone is king for water clarity.

Yeah, my outgoing water is quite yellow compared to the fresh salt water I replace it with. Does Ozone have any other benefits?

In my opinion, there isn’t really any benefit beside for cosmetic purposes and better light penetration, if the water was especially yellow.

It just breaks yellowing compounds into smaller pieces so they don’t absorb light, leading to less pigmented water. It can potentially make some organics more bioavailable for bacterial consumption, leading to slightly more organic export.

I wouldn’t say the fleece in itself improved the clarity in my system, It’s just super convenient. I have good clarity weeks and bad clarity weeks….. Purigen helps when it’s fresh, but exhausts quickly and I hate changing it, so I stopped.

Mine stays very clear. Is it clearer than when I was running 200 micron filter socks, no. I just don’t have to change plugged up socks every 2 days now.
