1. Count how many ways you are filtering your reef tank (natural & mechanical) and tell us that number!
6

2. List all the ways you are filtering your reef aquarium and include the names of any filtration equipment that apply.
1. Rocks in display
2. Filter socks
3. Skimmer
4. Refugium with chaeto and caulerpa
5. ATS
6. Carbon reactor

I know it seems like running a fuge and ATS may be overkill, but it works for me and my big fat sloppy tangs.

Hi Everyone!

Here's my AIO setup. Seems to be working pretty well for me.

One side Intank Media Basket with the below.
Filter floss changed every 3-4 days
Chemipure Blue
Bag of bio balls
Bag of Seachem Matrix

Opposite side I'm running filter socks that are changed weekly with water changes and kept in for 3-4 days.
Tunze Protein Skimmer

I'll be including a Cheato Reactor this week as well.

FX6 containing...
Bio balls
Bio stones
2 socks of carbon
Sponge pad
Polisher pad
Double Panty hose on the intake. (There for a few reasons. Mainly because I’m trying to build my pod population).

Refugium containing...
Red Gracilaria and Ogo algae
(More Macroalgae in the mail and will be transplanting it in the display as it grows).

It’s a new tank, so I’m working on establishing the bio filter and ecosystem with pods and coralline algae.

I was going to say 1, but then got thinking.....

It's more like 4 to 5

1) Biological(live rock, marine pure, sandbed)

2) Protein skimmer

3) filter sock(from time to time, not 24/7)

4) Carbon in a reactor(24/7/365)

How many of you that had a low number, didn't think all those are listed are ways of filtering the water?

If anyone answers 0, they have a dead tank with nothing in it. At the very least, you have biological filtration.
