I wanted to post this for anyone battling cyanobacteria. I had been doing weekly water changes for months and nothing was working trying to wipe out cyanobacteria. I was even considering Chemiclean. One week i forgot to do a water change and noticed it started to clear up. I decided to switch to water changes once every two weeks and now it's all gone. If anyone can explain this or had a similar experience let me know.

Thanks for posting.
An obviouos answer is higher nutrients help things outcompete the cyano.
