Hey - just wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction of the right forum to post in, I made a post yesterday with regards to carbon dosing (TM products) I recieved an answer, but I don't understand the reply in respects of my tank having high NO3 and the suggestion of NO2 fluctuations, would like to understand how/why that could be a possiblity and how to fix it :) TIA

Kay,

I'm not good enough at the chemistry to attempt an answer to your question but you may want to post it in the reef chemistry forum as your results do seem a little strange. I gather from Hans-Werner's response that he feels there may be testing errors. Since even the best enthusiast test kits are somewhat error prone, maybe run another set of tests and check the Nitrite as well like Hans-Werner suggested. Nitrite in the water, which is rarely tested for after the initial cycle, can throw off Nitrate results. Good luck.

Hi, am Kay long time reefer & lurker.
I've currently got got a RSR G2 300L, few sps, although am an lps & zoa girl at heart! Looking forward to joining in and hopefully learning & sharing knowledge with you all. Heres my tank, set up since Sept 2023 - although it was a tank transfer so majority of corals & fish have been with me for a good few years.

You should start a build thread for your tank! It looks great! Welcome to Reef2Reef!

Thank you- am going to source a nitrite test, tbh think the last time I tested for it must have been about 10+ years ago when I set my first reef up. Am also going to ask a reefer friend to test my NO3 & PO4 with his Hanna test kits too.

Am pretty confident that my RODI is good - 0 TDS plus my friend also uses my water. Just never heard or thought about Nitrite in the mix. Thanks again
