Finally looked at my chalice up close...

I'm not really into chalices...at all, but I have a couple of them. I remember picking out this guy, it had awesome striping in it, I haven't really looked at it in about a year, it's been at the bottom of my stock tank (s l o w l y moving into a new tank). I decided to pull it up close to the water line and snap a few macro shots. Let me know what you think of it. Took these with my tamron 90mm on a shaky tripod. Anyways, let me know what you think. My new tank will be primarily sps so I'm not sure what I'm going to do with it.

btw these are straight out of my nikon d40, no alternations. shot under 4 blue+ and 1 fiji purple.

Thanks for the compliments, I'll have to turn on my whites next time, some of the colors pop a lot better. I think someone with more chalice expertise could get this piece to look even better. I haven't made any attempt to properly position it, feed it, etc.

I disagree, I'd have no issue finding 5 or more chalice frags from a popular site that go for a lot that I'd turn down for this instead. Just my opinion and taste however.

I'm not saying it's a unreal chalice, but hype can do wonders for "nice" corals.
