Finally looked at my chalice up close...

that chalice looks nice to me,is it something thats named?either way its nice and has some cool striping in it.

Here is a picture from my old tank, a year or more ago, I think it looked a little better back then. The eyes don't look that purple right now. Sorry it's not the entire colony but it's a bit further out. I'll have to get a shot with my normal lens. I'll pop the daylights on too so I can quell the skeptics. I honestly think it looks better with them on, as it accentuates the striping.

Who needs white anyways these days with LEDs???? The blues put out a ton more par to boot and flat out rock. Sweet chalice....

I've seen several people saying this, but have not seen any actual measurements. Blue leds are a little more efficient than white ones, but the PAR meters are actually skewed to read higher levels from white light than blue (or red). Also, corals actually get more energy from whiter light than blue.

I have been keeping a reef for over 20 yrs. I do not need par readings or anything like that to come up with it. I have tested though and these put out more then my 400 watters did. I received some monti frags from a buddy running 250's and within 2 days these things were completley smoked. I currently am running the lights at 40-50% and they r starting to improve. Without a doubt these r more powerful. They were also placed 28" under the led fixtures to begin with.

I agree most of mine r shaded... I try to move them out slowly to get them acclimated to the leds.

Logzor-WOW! The PROFILE shot of the full colony IMHO is sweeter than the macros! When you aquired the coral did you think it would look that sweet or did it color up and surprise you.

This is a great looking chalice and nice pics btw. If you take new pics grab both daytime and actinics...the actinics look amazing though. Nice pickup!!

Actually I saw the picture on the website of a LFS, it was under more daylights than actinics and the stripes were more visible. IMO it looked just as good then as it does now. I actually think that it looks better under some daylights. Originally paid $36

OK, but what does that have to do with blue LEDs versus white ones?
