Hello,

is it normal to find death CUC snails in your tank or is this something that shouldn't happen at all?
I have about 15 snails (different species, cerith, nassarius, trochus, etc,) in my 50g breeder & 3 hermit crabs, so not a lot.
But i keep finding death snails the last couple of months/weeks...

Is my tank getting to clean or is this just a normal thing? my rocks don't look particularily clean & they should have plenty of food/detritus.
I'm thinking about moving away from snails in my CUC because my hermits are perfectly fine.

Does anyone have suggestions for a normal sized CUC in a 50g breeder tank?

I think it’s most likely that they are just reaching the end of their lifespan. but it could also be because the hermits are attacking them or bad water parameters.

What type of snails have you found dead? Some snail species have short life spans of a year or two, others (like trochus) can potentially live more than a decade.
