Hello!!

Today is the day i started setting up a new reef!
Tank is a waterbox 50.3 AIO with a micmol air pro light & a tunze doc 9004 skimmer.

Today the cabinet finally came, so i was able to start building everything & filling her up.

Currently im filling the tank with RODI water, after that i will put in 2 strong powerheads to start mixing in some salt.

Wish me luck!

Thanks, it’s originally a stand for a fresh water tank. it was more than half the price than the original Waterbox stand & this one has way more holes to run cables trough. I love it!
Can't beat that!

And so the scaping is complete!
I have added about 60% live rock with remaining dry rock & a nice layer of live sand.

I dosed 2ppm ammonia & now we wait till it's cycled, i tested some ammonia before i dosed the 2ppm so i probably have some die off.

Just came home, lots of brown algea & the ammonia dropped from 1,5- 2ppm to 0,5 in about 24 hours, good stuff!

We wait till it’s 0 & dose 2ppm again, we need that 2 to 0 in 24hrs!

I have the same tank, iv have been running it for the past 8 months as my first "legit" reef setup. I see you have the lid, but was wondering what you do/where you added your heater? I put mine in the return box, but find I'm topping that off a lot ( that one chamber, I don't trust ATO yet so lol. Interested to hear how your filter chamber is set up!

Mine is in the 2nd chamber next to my skimmer.
Why wouldn’t you trust an ATO? ive had mine for a while & it works like a charm. Just make sure to clean it regularly. Topping off manual is daily around 1 liter for me…

I still have one sump chamber open wich i will use for a reactor later on.

I'm at the point in my reefing of using more " tec" in my reef system. Part of it for me is lack of knowledge and how big of a problem it could cause if something goes wrong haha :face-with-tears-of-joy: I use about 2 mason jars a day to top up at some point in the day. Gives me nightmares of overflows/overfilling etc.

Well, it’s a personal thing then i guess.
I have one with an optical sensor that measures the water height, if it would get dirty it wouldn’t even top up because it thinks theres water in front of its sensor.

Tech failure is a thing but that will never withhold me of making it myself easy

I am now 100% sure my tank can remove ammonia from 2ppm to 0 In 24hours.

I still measure around 1ppm nitrite & lots of nitrates wich aren’t accurate because of the nitrite.

I do have alot of neon green algea on the rocks & glass.

Is my tank 100% ready to move in my living harbor from my other tank? Anyone can expertise?

Another update,

Sadly i had fish disease in my tank wich results in a fallow period, so for now i only have corals but they are doing well!!
Other than still struggling with some green small hair algea on 1 of my larger rocks my tank is looking pretty good.

i'm still looking for a CUC member that cleans my sandbed a little bit more because i despise vacuuming the sandbed ha.

Beautiful! Can you tell me about your lights and the returns you are using? I’m looking into a waterbox 50.3 AIO as well.
