Keeping in mind this is in Japan, are we thinking that is Padauk? I thought sycamore initially, But then when he started cutting into it, I'm like wait a minute. I know that orange dust of death.... Would they have actually brought those Padeuk boels all the way from Africa?

That dust looks awfully familiar and I never worked with sycamore.
Look at all the dusted pen blanks he could have had with a little pre cutting.

Back in the day I thought about making a four post bed frame out of padauk.

IF there was a full uvb inhibitor containing finish, That didn't look terrible on it, I would have used padeuk a lot more in my furniture.

I can't get over the color After it starts to oxidize. It's like an ashy red gray, That is not necessarily attractive to me.

The only way I got the coolor to stick, was vacuum impregnating it with "total boat" Marine resin.
