Both fire fish were out first thing this morning. Both ate and are leaving each other alone. @eatbreakfast will they eventually pair like clowns? Or are they destined to be family members that hate each other?
If they haven't paired yet, then they won't. It is speculated, but not known for sure whether they hermaphrodites or have a determined gender. This is in part, what makes pairing them a challenge.

I'm having this problem with 5 ff in my 65...I have read that this may be expected and that they may kill each other until there is one left...any ideas about how to avoid this sorry end...no other fish are bothering them and many predict this outcome...ideas?, expert opinions?:(

well i have 12. and they hide pretty much all the time in my tank. from time to time they pop out cruz the tank and back to hiding

Yup, that's what mine do, I have 3 of them. Always hide, pop out to check what's going on then go back into hiding lol

I have 5 in my 65...in with a kole tang and a black sailfin blenny...the kole and blenny all went in at the same time...about 2 weeks later, the ff disappeared except for one...I'm guessing that he is the aggressor...one or two come out in am...should I take out the head ff or will one of the others just take his place...i could try a whole redo of the tank...pain...but will it solve this problem before I start losing fish?...

An odd number is best. That one of one is the aggressor the other two will team up.

Unless they are a bonded pr, firefish are intolerant of one another. You will end up with only one or two firefish. You can remove the extras, or the dominant one will remove them for you.

Or you can rearrange scape to reset territory's
Even with this, one will quickly become dominant and finish what he started.

We should have a new sticky. It would be 1. Fish that must be kept singly. 2. Fish paired-up only. 3. Fish in groups only. 4. Fish that will kill each other if they feel like it.
