Like the post said my husbands fire shrimp was eaten sometime today. The tank has two clowns and a tang. He wanted a shrimp so he got 3 pieces of live rock. When he added it to the tank it hid in the rock and been there ever since. Today he was looking in the tank and saw shrimp pieces and he couldn’t find his shrimp. I feed the tank and clown brine shrimp and algae food,
My question is I thought shrimp and the two type of fish were good together in a reef tank? Also would it be a good idea to add live plants to my reef?

Are you sure you are seeing the actual shrimp or just the molt from the shrimp? I’ve been fooled a time or two.

If it is dead, I don’t think those fish would attack a shrimp, but he may have died from other causes. A cleanup crew, if you have one may have had a snack after it was dead.

I have a sand starfish and two concs . I I see is pieces of shell.

You mentioned he got live rock for the shrimp. From where? could have had something in it like a mantis.

I had two cleaner shrimp, I now have one. One molted, in a very bad place in the tank, couldn't hold on to the rock during the molting, and poof, sucked in thru a powerhead.

I doubt the fish had anything to do with it.

I also have mantis shrimp (not by desire!).. two of them, and thusfar they have not been able to kill my other cleaner shrimp.

sadly the fire shrimp could have been a dud from the beginning... In which case it sadly died, and your clean up crew did its job.

When I added my shrimp to the tank they never hid... they swam upside down (Seems weird, but always do), and found a place to hang out on a rock, or in my gorgonian.

I'd try another shrimp.
