Hi everyone,

A new client of us came with an idea for a new tank. He wanted to have a mixture of different firefish. He wants to house them in a 4ft aquarium.

What are your suggestions on this?

Buy them young, I suggest ordering them from the LFS, pick them up the day of arrival before they go into the display tanks, introduce all at the same time. Offer a lot of hiding places, bolt holes. You'll get opinions that it's not doable but I have kept them in groups without aggression in approximately the same size tank.

Thank you for your reply. How many did you have? And which once did you mix?

I had a total of 5 at one time and a trio another time. Here is an image of the trio. I have never mixed types but I do not see an issue.

I heard that you can't mix types because of serious agression. Worth a shot but +1 on A LOT of hiding spots.
