Firework Polyp question

Quick question on firework polyps. Are the short, headless stalks new growth, or former growth with head loss? I got the drag just a couple of weeks ago and am not sure of the order of events when it comes to polyp growth.

With the tips....that looks like a clove polyp on a torch head...
Haha, I don’t believe that’s the case, saw the main colony just days before they dragged it and it was clean, growing on glass bottom away from all other coral.
 
That’s how they propagate. The stalks will attach to another part of the rock and it will spread out and grow new polyps. They lay down like a bridge.

oh I believe you, just so odd it's completely torch shaped XD
