Hey All, tank is 8 months old (23 gal peninsula) and has had great parameters;
- N03 3.3 (always under 4)
-Ph04 .01 (always under .05)
- Ca 480 (always right around there
-dKH 11.5 (consistently)
-PH 8.0 (consistently)

have a montipora Digitata, monti cap and frogspawn all which have been thriving.

so I bought an ORA Green planet a week ago.

it has started to color up with 6 of the nodes turning bright green, but still minimum polyp extension and white strings floating out (which i hear is a stress indicator)

anyone think it just needs more time… or is there something else bothering it?

currently sits mid to top of tank with an AI Prime HD LED light.

pics are day 1 and now 1 week later

May I suggest you lower the alk or raise nutrients.

Nope dkh closer to 8 and they do just fine w higher N0³. Your on track for burnt tips with alk so high and N0³ so low. The calcification will outpac3 the ability for flesh to grow and cover it w your current parameters. Ive always found that things get substantially easier with dkh near 8

What salt do you use I would agree if its high you can try and keep it around 10. Before you adjust that how much flow is it getting

As above, life is easier with lower Alk. Things can go wrong fast with high Alk and low nutrients.

I run mine at 7.5dkh , Nitrate around 10, Phosphate around 0.05-0.08

You should be fine if that what is mixes at I would focus more on flow. Don't make drastic changes just be patient check your mag levels too. I would agree with the two above I keep mine 8-9 but don't make a bunch of changes to your tank and if you do take awhile to do it. Mine took a month to get use to my tank and this is normal to see stress of coral when first added. If your seeing progress don't make big changes and keep it stable.

Assuming that's red sea? I started w there coral pro and it was a bunch of issues. Went to blue bucket and life has been easy since. Mix up blue bucket salt and do 15-20% w/c once a week and you levels will fall slow enough to not shock anything

I have almost 5000 gph turn over for 90 gallon tank and its a little low for my sps. I shoot for 40 to 90x turn over in my tank but i have a mix reef so a well positioned pump and give them the flow they need.

Its how much flow is that coral getting I have a good amount of flow in my tank but still have some slow spots.
I personally wouldn't get over concerned about that rn as long as you can see you polyps moving on the acro. Some of my tabling acros are being hit directly from 6-8" away by Nero 3s pushing 1700gph give or take in a 35gallonish tank. Others are in indirect flow but polyps are always moving in the current. Adjust what you have and make sure you keep things stable. When you see growth happening you can invest in better controllable powerheads down the road.

If you use Coral Pro Salt at 11.5dkh, then you need to maintain this level……why change salt, used RSCP for many many years, just as good as any other salt.

Changes in DKH can induce bad effects.
