First frag tank build

Hello everyone,
Just a quick question. I am building my first frag tank. I plan on just running a skimmer and dosing vodka for filtration. The main tank will be bare bottom. I am curious in the fuge/sump would you have sand and live rock? Live rock most likely but will sand be necessary? Thanks in advance for info and feedback

You dont need anything really, bacteria grows everywhere. you need to look at the load the tank will have. I do prefer to have some live rock in there to for additional places for bacteria to grow. Why dose vodka? the tank is not even set up how do you know you even need to dose it.. Usually frag tanks have very little load on them. Frag tanks should be set up as simple and cheap as possible especially if you plan to sell the frags.
