I got this Sebae anemone today about 12 hours ago, it is my first one. Is this normal for it to bunch up like a tomato? Thanks

It’s difficult to see what we’re looking at with the blue light, can you possibly get a photo under white lights?

From what I can interpret, it possibly looks like the anemone’s foot is sticking out meaning it’s “upside down” and unable to attach. Sebae’s prefer to plant their foot underneath rocks and into the substrate.

Pics don't help much with anemone as they do weird things. To home one, you need a mature tank (close to a year is best), stable parameters in the correct ranges and strong lighting. Also no copper or tap water in the system.

These nems are basic haitian and carriberan species requiring MODERATE light and water flow. Insufficient light and flow may be why yours has shrunk. Also feed 2x a week with mysis shrimp or chopped krill. Salinity 1.024-1.025

You should get your own test kit, preferably not API brand. Exact numbers are important, not just "perfect". They might have the wrong idea of what "perfect" is. At minimum, you should have them tell you the exact numbers for your nitrates and phosphates; weekly water changes may be too much.

What light do you have?

@OrionN

It shouldn’t be placed on top of the rock structure, Sebae’s naturally bury their foot where the sand meets the rock structure. I’d dig a hole under your rock structure and place the nem there.

You’re going to need much stronger lighting as well. Sebae’s are demanding anemones and certainly not easy to care for.
