So im getting a marine modular 800gph for my peninsula 60g breeder build. I have never drilled a tank and i live in MI so using a outdoor hose to spray water is not an option.
Im thinking of doing the plumbers clay instead. Any tips? i see the BRS video has a very fancy looking drill guide to get a straight angle, is that needed?
the bottom is the only tempered glass according to aqueon

any tips you wish you knew before you drilled?

Can make a clay mold around the area to trap the water. Allow the drill to do the work and don't apply force.

You can check your tank for tempered glass with polarized sunglasses. Don't trust Aqueon to know if your
tank's glass is tempered. They won't warranty it.

try to make a cardboard cutout of what the cut will be to use as a guide. doesn’t matter if it gets wet as the cut will be done once it melts off from the water. helped me keep the drill bit leveled and centered
