I've had various freshwater setups since I was 16 and I'm pushing towards 40 now. I've always wanted a saltwater tank ever since my dad's friend showed me his. when I was 7 would sit in front of it on my knees and watch it for hours. He had a shrimp married to a fish basically and I just could not get over them living together. The only name I remember of what he had was a Trigger fish 🤣 it's been a while. I do not want one of those I do know that.
Well to shorten my already growing introduction I'm trying to decide between the fluval Evo xii and helloreef well then I found this coralife bio cube so now I'm really not knowing which way to go. If anyone owns one of these already and could help a sister out that'd be amazing!
Any extras you had to buy that kit did not include, anything that the kit did include but was junk, anything break, or just hated it because. I will appreciate all your thoughts and opinions to help me decide this debacle. I currently have all three in route 😬 don't tell my husband 🙀 we already have three freshwater tanks. He is not happy most of my time goes to my hobby. Nonetheless he will not let me set three new tanks up so when they get here I must decided. divorced or in the dog house be looming

Welcome, glad you are here! I’ve had a Biocube 32 g set up for over 4 years, problem free. I read good things about the other two tanks you mentioned.

Welcome!

I believe your fathers friend had a pistol shrimp and goby pair! That’s the only species of fish I know that will have a symbiotic relationship with pistol shrimp, but maybe someone will chime in and tell me I’m wrong 😂

Anyways, you can’t really go wrong with either of those systems. More your preference on size/style/price. Depending on what you want to grow coral wise (if any) a better light like an ai prime or something similar would be a really good option for those.

Good luck on your journey! Create a build thread when you finally get it so we can all follow along 🤘🏼

Welcome to the forums. I have no direct experience with any of the tanks, but I see quite a bit of chatter about the fluval, it seems quite popular
